Project update, request

An update on our progress: through personal sales in July and the Sip, Snack + Shop event, my team raised $242.13 which we'll be donating to The Second Step in Newton, MA. Our team included 2 Arbonne consultants and 2 other participating vendors (CAbi and Adesso Jewelry). I haven't taken inventory yet on the products we have set aside to donate.

If you participated in the project, please send me your updates, and include how much you raised, the organization you're donating to, and how many people (consultants and others) participated in your efforts. Once I've heard back from everyone, I promise to share the cumulative totals.

FYI, I contacted Arbonne's corporate office and it turns out this very idea is being considered by one of the committees as we speak! My contact in the corporate communications office promised to pass along the documents we created for Hope Restored, so we're all part of this process! So please do send your info along so we can share it with the Arbonne committee.

Thanks again for your support, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

How your (our) donation helps

How your (our) donation helps:
• $100 buys grocery staples for one residence for a week
• $250 buys a month of “T” passes
• $500 pays for 2 weeks of day camp for one child
• $1,000 pays for a series of job training sessions
• $1,500 pays for heat in one residence for a month
• $2,500 provides a month of therapeutic After School for 3 children
• $5,000 provides a month of housing and case management services for one family

If 50 consultants participate in Massachusetts, I estimate we can raise at least $3,000 - though $5,000 would be really cool. Together we can make a difference!

How you can help - clients

You don't have to be a consultant to help out! Clients can participate in one or more of the following ways:

1. Schedule an in-home or in-office presentation — 25% of retail sales will be donated to The Second Step in your name.
2. Place an order on or before July 24th and 25% will be donated to The Second Step.
3. Donate products — earmark one or more product(s) from your order to be donated.

If you'd like to discuss what works best for you or find out which dates are still available, leave a comment with the best way to contact you and I'll be in touch. Thanks!

How you can help - consultants

Wanna join me? Consultants can participate in one or more of the following ways:
1. Donate 25% of retail sales and 10% of Preferred Client sales from one party the month of July.
2. Donate 25% of retail sales and 10% of Preferred Client sales from one week in the month of July.
3. Donate products — either from personal inventory or from $100 for $20 or other incentives and special offers.

If you'd like to participate, please let me know in the comments. My goal is to collaborate with 50 consultants in Massachusetts and 200 or more across the country, so I'd like to hear from you!

Some suggestions:
• Offer to make the donation in the name of your hostess(es)
• Ask grandfathered consultants to pay retail during your chosen week in July and donate their 35% discount to the shelter
• Invite a representative from the recipient organization to attend the party/event to share information about their programs, success stories, and awareness tips. If they can’t attend, offer to share their brochures/flyers with the attendees
• Invite women in business groups/committees to host and/or attend an event
• Consider hosting your own open house and include other like-minded vendors (jewelry, bags, etc.)
• Invite consultants from other teams to participate
• Coordinate with your local shelter/organization re: opportunities for personal interaction with residents to share Arbonne’s message of hope and empowerment
• Invite a representative from the recipient organization to attend your August team meeting and present check(s) and/or products (which may be collected at the event)

Did you know?

• One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, regardless of age, economic status, race, religion, nationality, or educational background.

• Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their partners and children when they become adults.

• The leading cause of death for pregnant women is homicide. (Okay, this one just makes me nuts!)

• According to the Department of Justice, about 33% of female murders are committed by an intimate partner (current or former spouse, boyfriend – v. just 4% of male murders).

The Project

One of the things that makes me proud to be an Arbonne consultant is the company’s commitment — led first and foremost by president Rita Davenport — to giving back. And having experienced domestic abuse as a child, I’m particularly touched by their choice to support The Sojourner Center. Fortunately, my mother had a place to go so we could get out of the situation we were in and the resources to start over — but what if she hadn’t?

This realization has inspired me to find a way to connect personally to this issue in my own community, and share the Arbonne message of hope with those most in need. So I am dedicating the month of July to giving back. And I invite you to join me.

I am donating 25% of my retail sales in July to benefit The Second Step in Newton, a transitional housing and community program for survivors of domestic violence and their children.
